The Board of Directors meeting will be held on Jan 9. I will be there. We want to make sure all the topics of concern to the members are addressed. Last year, we asked for a state law against removing a dog collar. I brought that up, the Houndsmen brought it to the NY Conservation Council, and it should be introduced in the legislature this year.
Some topics that will be addressed, in no particular order: -modify that proposal to include tampering with a dog's collar, in response to an incident a couple months ago where the batteries were removed from the tracking collars on two dogs. -getting a kill season for hounds on bears. comments on the best time for such a season would be appreciated. -discussion of extending training season on coon -discussion of strategy for countering various anti-hunting proposals including "puppy mill" law -pursuing "dogs at large" proposal beyond what we now have in the hunting guide/pursuing a "right to retrieve" -strategy for restoring waivers for out of state hunters at competitive events
Anyone who has any comments or concerns on these or other issues should post here or contact me or another board member directly.
